Advantages of Intera's Moisture Transport Technology

Intera's Moisture Transport Technology Makes Fabrics
Cooler when it's hot outside.
Warmer when it is cold outside.
Resist odor, mold, mildew, fungus, yeast and bacteria.
Easy to clean.

Cooler when it's hot outside.
Evaporation is a cooling process. Pour rubbing alcohol over your hand and feel how cool it is because alcohol evaporates so quickly. Since sweat evaporating is how your body cools itself, the faster fabric spreads the moisture to aid the evaporation the cooler the fabric.
Intera® fabrics have a hydrophilic (water loving) molecule bonded to the surface of the fiber. This molecule attracts the water and spreads it out over a broad area. Since the water (sweat) is spread out it evaporates faster and therefore cools better and faster.
Cotton is hot because it is cellular like a sponge and therefore holds water so it does not aid in spreading out the sweat.
Plain Synthetics are hot because they are oil based and therefore hydrophobic (water hating). Your sweat goes nowhere because it is stuck between your skin and the fabric.
Proof. . . Imagine taking a drop of sweat and placing a piece of fabric on top of it. The fabric where the drop of sweat evaporated the fastest would be the coolest, right? The graph below shows the drying times for a .77 gram drop of water to evaporate through a 1.33 gram of different fabrics of similar style.

Drying Time for a .77 gram Drop of Water to Evaporate Through a 1.33 gram Piece of Fabric. This Reproduces the Action of Sweat Evaporating through Clothes.

Warmer when it is cold outside.
Did you know you can die of hypothermia (the cold), if wet in temperature that is 75 degrees; yet, you would not die of hypothermia if you are dry in 75 degree air?

Water absorbs heat energy or cold energy. If it is cold and you have moisture (that pesky sweat) against your skin it will absorb the cold energy from the outside and therefore make you cold.

Intera® fabrics pull that moisture away from your body and keep you dry therefore warm.

Resist odor, mold, mildew, fungus, yeast and bacteria.
Mold, mildew, fungus, yeast and bacteria are microorganisms. A microorganism is a small life form. These small bugs need two things to survive and propagate... air and water. (We do not know what or where they eat.)

Now odor is caused by these microorganisms developing. Think of the milk in your refrigerator after you come back from a long weekend. It did not smell when you left but now, yuck! The reason is that microorganisms have been propagating and developing.

Intera® fabrics have the permanently attached hydrophilic molecule that has such a strong attraction to moisture that it literally starves the microorganism of the vital moisture it needs to survive.

Intera Corporation has scientific test results proving this yet the best proof is to buy a pair of Intera® socks from the Orvis Company of Manchester, Vermont and wear the socks for three days without washing them. Smell them after three days and you will be convinced bacteria has a hard time growing on Intera® fabrics.

Easy to clean.
Oily dirt likes to bond to oil based synthetic fibers. Soap's job is to help water find its way between the dirt and the fiber and separate the dirt from the fiber. More often than not the dirt is too tightly attached to the fiber and the soap can not work its way under the dirt.

When oily dirt falls on a synthetic fiber that has the Intera® hydrophilic molecule bonded to the surface then the dirt is sitting on water loving molecules. Therefore the water and soap are drawn under the dirt to lift it off the fiber.

In fact about 1/2 the recommended soap is needed to clean Intera® fabrics.
